AWS Meetup: What to expect

Thinking about coming along to Wellington's AWS User Group Meetup?

If you have anything to do with, or want to learn about AWS from the community in Wellington who are actually using it, come along!

You can register and hear about the updates here.

Amazon Web Services is a collection of remote computing services that together make up a cloud computing platform in a low cost environment.

This meetup is organised and sponsored by API Talent, OptimalPeople and AWS and is a really good way to learn from your peers, network and share interesting information.

What to expect when you head along

Our venue is The Green Man Pub on Victoria Street in Wellington.

We start at 4pm with about ten minutes of mingling, saying hi, trying not to stab yourself while putting on your name tag. AWS kindly give us some nibbles, but the beers/drinks are on you.

There's usually one speaker per meetup who's talking for about 30-45 minutes on their topic. It's a supportive environment for the speakers, among peers, who often ask questions and have a go at solving an issue during the presentation!

When the presentation finishes, more nibbles are brought out and everyone is encouraged to stay - chat about the topic, catchup with old colleagues, make new contacts and have a few laughs.

Thinking about speaking?

We're always looking out for people to share their AWS experiences. If you're thinking about getting up in front of a room full of supportive AWS community members, it's a great place to do so!

Please do get in touch if you've got something to share.
